Political Dialogue between the foreign ministries of Tajikistan and Great Britain

On March 30, 2023, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Development of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland the Political Dialogue between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan and the United Kingdom was held. The delegation of the Republic of Tajikistan was headed by Deputy Foreign Minister Mr Sharaf Sheralizoda, and the delegation of the United Kingdom was headed by the Minister of State for European and North American Affairs Mr Leo Docherty.

During the dialogue, the parties discussed a wide range of issues of bilateral cooperation of the United Kingdom in the areas of politics and economics, investment and business, education and culture, water and climate, combating security challenges and threats such as terrorism and extremism, as well as drug trafficking.

 

 

 

 

Inter-parliamentary relations, cooperation within the framework of international and regional organizations, the situation in Afghanistan, the need to strengthen the borders and technical support for Tajikistan’s “green” energy projects and programs, and the importance of organizing visits of high-ranking officials from the two countries were among other issues that were discussed during this Political Dialogue.

At the end of the Political Dialogue, the heads of delegations signed a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Development of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, and agreed to continue a constructive dialogue in order to strengthen ties in areas of mutual interest.
